I love the lights In the 30 years my wife and I have been in our home, we have kept that tradition. And for more than 30 years, our tree-trimming always a real tree has been done with mostly the same small group of family and friends, stringing real popcorn and cranberries, with my nearly year-old mom, sewing needle still at the ready. Many others are nearly 60 years old, so taking time to remember where each came from is a special tradition that I love. A newer tradition I started in is that I create unique, show-themed ornaments for fellow cast members performing in a holiday show with me.

Additionally, too much homework can detract from other important activities and relationships that are essential for the child's development. Though having been a staple of school for generations, there is actually little if any evidence to suggest homework has any real benefit for children. The supposed goal of it is to reinforce concepts taught during the school day, but studies suggest that the benefits of homework are negligible at best. There is no statistical relationship between homework and how well a child does in school, especially in elementary school.
